HIRO3.0 and HIRO1.0 are two products for HILT therapy. Many pathologies caused by overload, trauma or degeneration are localised in deep-lying muscles, tendons or joint structures. The HILT pulse is able to transfer sufficient energy to deep-lying structures due to the high peak power and short pulse duration. HILT therapy is based on the knowledge of energy transfer within the tissues of the body. The most important effects that take place in tissue are photomechanical effects, photochemical effects and photothermal effects.
The photochemical effect, resulting from stimulation of deep-lying structures by light, activates cell metabolism and is based on the interaction of light activating fundamental chemical reactions on a cellular level. Transmission of pain stimuli is delayed and the pain mitigating effect is achieved rapidly.
High peak power provides a second therapeutic effect: the photomechanical effect. The photomechanical effects produce pressure impulses that perform a micromassage, which is fundamental in order to reactivate the microcirculation and lymphatic drainage.
The latter stimulates oxygenation of the tissues, elimination of accumulated fluids and cleaning up of inflammatory molecules.
A rapid and intense anti-inflammatory and anti-oedematic effect can be observed.
Finally, the controlled thermic increase caused by the therapy leads to long-term therapeutic effects.

Why does the HIRO go deeper than other lasers?
HIRO is a Nd:YAG laser with a wavelength of 1064nm. This wavelength has a very high penetration, a good scattering coefficient and a low absorption coefficient. Due to the combination of the specific short pulse duration and high peak power, the energy is able to reach deeper structures without thermic damage.
Is the treatment painful and can I use it on Trigger Points and acupuncture points?
No, the treatment is completely painless. The patient feels a light heat that is experienced as pleasant.
